Wedge effect makes fastener self-locking

It is vital that joints holding subassemblies together remain secure. Bolts need to be easily removable during maintenance, but resist loosening effects of vibrations and dynamic loads.

NORD-LOCK securing system makes the bolt self-locking. This unique bolt securing system uses tension instead of friction. When the bolt or nut is tightened, the teeth grip and seat on the mating surfaces. The teeth lock the Nord-Lock system in place, allowing movement only across the face of the cams. The tension created makes the bolt self-locking. Any attempt from the bolt/nut to turn loose will be blocked by the wedge-locking effect of the washers.
